Lindenwood loses to Miami (OH) 38-0

The Lions’ streak of success was cut short Saturday by the Redhawks in a crushing blowout. Lindenwood only had 147 total yards, yet allowed 476 from their FBS opponent. They were also 1-13 on third down. QB Nate Glantz went nine for 25 with 87 yards and two interceptions.
Eastern Illinois beats Western Illinois 31-23

The Panthers improved to 2-2 while the Leathernecks fell to 1-4 after Saturday's East-West matchup. EIU RB Jacarre Fleming led the backfield with 111 yards from just nine carries, bringing in two TDs for the Panthers. RB Charles Kelton and QB Connor Wolf also ran one in each. Wolf only completed four of ten passes for 90 yards and an interception. For WIU, QB Chris Irvin played the first half, going 11 for 20 with 84 yards and two sacks, before being relieved by QB Carson Carswell, who finished the game going 16 for 22 with 118 yards and two touchdowns. Freshman DB Aa’zoriyon Bonner also blocked a punt for the Leathernecks. Both teams were almost even in total yards, with EIU recording 329 while WIU recorded 326.
Tennessee Tech beats Tennessee State 35-8

The Golden Eagles bumped up to the number seven spot in FCS Nation’s rankings after another dominant victory over the Tigers. This is their ninth win in a row, the longest active streak in FCS football. RB Quintell Quinn got started early for TTU, running in a 67-yard TD on the second play from scrimmage. RB Q’Daryius Jennings
was also busy in the backfield with a 45-yard touchdown run of his own. Jennings had 71 yards from six carries, while Quinn recorded 107 yards from seven carries. QB Kekoa Visperas went nine for 16 with 103 yards, including a 34-yard touchdown pass to WR Noah Robinson. DB Andrew Smith added to the carnage with a 94-yard pick six. The Tigers’ only points came from two field goals by K Freddy Perez, and a blocked
punt by LB Epoki Fakaosi that went out of the end zone for a safety. TTU had 384 total yards while TSU had 290.
Charleston Southern beats South Carolina State 31-24

The Buccaneers finally snapped their 385-day losing streak in an electric win over SC State. RB Ke’Marion Baldwin sealed the win with a 10-yard TD with 1:03 left in the fourth. He also had a 26-yard TD in the first quarter, finishing the day with 122 yards from 18 carries. Charleston Southern had 3 fumble recoveries, including one by S Champ Bradley that was returned 64-yards for a TD. QB Zolten Osborne went 13 for 28 with 198 yards, a TD and an INT. The Buccaneers had 345 total yards and allowed 449.
UT Martin beats Southeast Missouri State 34-10

The Skyhawks kicked off conference play with their first win of the season over SEMO. QB Jase Bauer wasted no time, throwing a 75-yard bomb to WR Bryce Bailey, scoring on the first play of the game. He found Bailey for a TD again in the second quarter. Bauer finished the day going 15 for 22 with 225 yards, plus 107 rushing yards
and 2 TDS from 15 carries. RB Brandon Epton Jr. scored SEMO’s lone touchdown, but only had 18 yards on 13 carries. The Skyhawks tried out three different QBs – Jax Leatherwood, Patrick Heitert, and Johnny Webber – with all of them throwing for less than 100 yards. They had 209 total passing yards, with Leatherwood and Heitert both throwing an interception.
