A Week of Shifts at the Top
Week 5 brought more movement in the FCS Nation Top 25 as teams continue to separate themselves early in the season. Montana made the biggest splash this week, climbing to the No. 3 spot and pushing Tarleton State to No. 4. Southern Illinois keeps proving it belongs in the conversation, sliding into the No. 6 position.
Tennessee Tech continues its strong run, breaking into the Top 10 at No. 7, while Monmouth and North Dakota also moved up, holding steady among the subdivision’s best. Meanwhile, Incarnate Word (UIW) appears at No. 19, and Mercer joins the rankings again at No. 25.
The Ivy League remains in the mix with Yale, while Lehigh continues to climb. The parity across conferences is clear: it’s shaping up to be a season where every week counts.
