As the UTRGV Vaqueros wrap up their inaugural season, their last opponent on the schedule is East Texas A&M. The Vaqueros represent the University of Texas system, while East Texas represents the Texas A&M system, hence the UT vs A&M game for football purposes. UTRGV enters the final game of the season with an undefeated record at home and winning their last road contest over McNeese 28-13. Eddie Lee Marburger
and Tony Diaz linked up on three touchdowns, but it was a 75-yard completion that broke the game open for UTRGV. The Vaqueros sit with a record of 8-3 overall, and 4-3 in conference play, all while still receiving attention from the coaches poll.

East Texas A&M will enter Vackar Stadium with a 3-8 record, but with a 3-4 conference record. The Lions have earned their wins in conference play, scoring in bunches when they do win, and on the road, putting up 40 against Northwestern State and 52 over Incarnate Word in their road wins. “For us, it is about finishing the standard in year one. The seniors that led this group, either 8 or 9 wins, will have set the bar for UTRGV, and we want to close with the best possible note.” Head coach Travis Bush said in the weekly press conference. Since day one, looking at the portable buildings to what we now it has been a very valuable experience building a culture in the Rio Grande Valley.”
For UTRGV, defensively, they must hold off the Lions from big chunk plays early on. Offensively, look for Tony Diaz in the receiving category to be involved heavily, and running back Nathan Denney to pound the rock to have long, sustained drives.
